A quan­ti­ty of cannabis was seized by of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force, Fort Cha­con Base, in the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion yes­ter­day af­ter­noon, dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise.

The TTPS in a state­ment said the of­fi­cers con­duct­ed the ex­er­cise around 12.40 pm yes­ter­day, dur­ing which they pro­ceed­ed to Main Street, Beetham Gar­dens, where they ob­served a man dressed in black with a black bag in his pos­ses­sion. On see­ing the of­fi­cers, the man ran off.

A search of the area, where the man was seen stand­ing, was con­duct­ed which re­sult­ed in the of­fi­cers find­ing a plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 500 grammes of cannabis. The same par­ty of of­fi­cers then pro­ceed­ed to Sixth Street, where they found an­oth­er bag with two brown pack­ages, al­so con­tain­ing 500 grammes of cannabis. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to the find­ings.
