Deyal refutes death rumours

T&T crick­eter Mark Deyal has ex­pressed sad­ness and dis­ap­point­ment af­ter a fake so­cial me­dia post pur­port­ing his death be­gan cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia some­time be­tween Mon­day and Tues­day.

On Tues­day, 30-year-old Deyal who is cur­rent­ly in Dubai tak­ing part in the Abu Dhabi T10 with the New York Strik­ers, told Guardian Me­dia Ltd. Sports, "I think there seems to be a big mix up but I just want to say thanks for all the mes­sages and con­cerns but I’m very much alive and well and healthy. I’m cur­rent­ly in Dubai for the Abu Dhabi T10 that’s cur­rent­ly go­ing on. But again thanks to every­one for the gen­uine mes­sages of con­cern."

The fake post, which was be­ing shared via What­sApp claimed, "Red Force play­er Mark Deyal was mur­dered yes­ter­day in El Do­ra­do. Seems like the ban­dits at­tempt­ed to steal his car."

It was at­tached to a video high­light reel of the play­er which he had cre­at­ed and post­ed to Face­book dur­ing this year's CPL.
