Two sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour for larceny

Two men were each sen­tenced to 12 months’ hard labour by a Mas­ter of the High Court, af­ter they were charged with house break­ing and lar­ce­ny.

Din­di­al Ga­jad­har, aka ‘Plough’, 41, and Nain­dra Ram­dath, aka ‘Bel­lies’, 42, both un­em­ployed, with no fixed place of abode, were charged with the of­fences when they ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Grey in the High Court on Thurs­day.

They both plead­ed guilty to the charges and were sen­tenced.

The duo was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the Pe­nal Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, fol­low­ing a re­port of house break­ing and lar­ce­ny against a Pe­nal man on Feb­ru­ary 8.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­sult­ed in the re­cov­ery of a num­ber of stolen items in­clud­ing an Air Ri­fle and a quan­ti­ty of jew­ellery.

Mean­while, a Pe­nal cou­ple was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion in con­nec­tion with re­ceiv­ing stolen ar­ti­cles.

A male vic­tim re­port­ed to po­lice that he se­cured his Pe­nal home around 5 am, on Thurs­day and went to work. He al­leges when he re­turned, he dis­cov­ered the house bro­ken in­to, ran­sacked and a quan­ti­ty of items miss­ing.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of a 33-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman and the re­cov­ery of all the stolen items.
