The Borough of Diego Martin has granted powers of precept to eight litter wardens and the granting of powers of entry to two Public Health Advisors and one Public Health Administrator.
The wardens now have the power to
1. To enter and inspect premises for the purpose of enforcing the Litter Act;
2. To lay complaints in the name of the Borough; and
3. To conduct proceedings before the Magistrate.
Those precepted were: Tariena Bruce, Lyndon Dillon, Terrisa Harradan, Sefra King, Anisa Nicholas, Candice Richards, Mischa Skinner-Sampson, Amelia Smith. Additionally, the Borough, with the approval of the Council, granted the Public Health Administrator Ms. Patricia Duncan-Ashby and the Public Health Advisors Ms. Purrell Bennett and Mr. Verne Edwards with Powers of Entry solely for the purpose of Public Health issues and concerns.
Mayor Akeliah Glasgow-Warner stated, “this precepting ceremony that took place today, though small in nature, signals the overarching intent of this Council to ensure that the Borough of Diego Martin is a beacon of excellence, whereby its burgesses will have a sense of pride and safety knowing that their needs are our main priority”.
